Charlie Price is a surface pattern designer and illustrator born in Brighton. After finishing her Art & Design Foundation course at Brighton, she moved away from home to study at Cardiff Metropolitan University, achieving a first in Textiles BA Hons.
Moving back to Brighton after University, Charlie now creates abstract prints often inspired by her hometown and her emotions surrounding this wonderful city. Her artistic process involves mark-making using acrylic and goarge paints, lino printing and collage, which she then digitally manipulates in Photoshop. Charlie’s final outcomes in her work usually bring together a ‘mash up’ of digital and handmade. While some motifs are sharper and more digital, other motifs show ‘the makers hand’, a quality Charlie loves to show in her work.
The aim of her quirky and abstract prints is to create a calm and refreshing atmosphere, adding a pop of colour to a home.
