Born in Liverpool, Angela spent her childhood exploring imaginative worlds and make-believe through her reading and believes this has influenced her painting and her need to tell stories. She studied English Literature & Politics in Manchester and then moved to London to work in Investment Banking. It was in a local cafe in Kings Cross, listening to Vivaldi's Four Seasons and eating scrambled eggs, that she recalls suddenly knowing she wanted to be an artist. Angela went on to study painting at Wimbledon School of Art and since graduating in 2004 has exhibited in solo and group shows in London and the South East. In 2020 she guest-curated her first exhibition at The Graham Hunter Gallery and is presently co-running a pop up gallery with an art collective called “The Wimbledon Group”. Angela currently works and lives in South West London.
'I am interested in narrative through the painting of the figure. The figures are rarely portraits and are made up of found images and layered with imaginings, emotion and experience. They exist in another world but are touched with human spirit and nature. I see making art as a form of story telling and making sense of something deep inside, whilst hopefully creating something that others will find pleasure and meaning from. '
