Alex McIntyre creates art for exhibitions, commissions, specific sites and through collaborations with other creative professionals. She also undertakes contracts as a community artist, workshop leader and project manager working with arts and cultural organisations and in educational settings.
Alex creates paintings primarily using ink and gesso on birch ply. She is inspired by walking and running and tries to capture a sense of the feeling of being in the landscape. Her works are not particular places but the memory of experiences, of breath, movement and light. She is particularly interested in exploring sky, space, land and weather and the works often have a dream-like, calming quality.
Alex paints from Blue Door Studio, Waterhall Studios on Waterhall Farm. She completed a five year artist fellowship at Digswell Arts (www.digswellartstrust.com) in autumn 2016. She has held AIR positions with Middlesex University 2008-2010 (with whom she also completed a Masters in Fine art 2007), Brent Museum and Archives (2010-11), English National Ballet (2013), and Watford Museum 2014. She has exhibited widely in the UK and has work in private collections in Europe, United States and Japan.
